Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation

As with any exercise program, consult your physician (a referral is necessary). It is also important to check with your insurance provider.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is recommended for patients who are diagnosed with lung diseases such as COPD, asthma, pulmonary hypertension, lung cancer, and cystic fibrosis. The program is a supervised exercise and education program designed to help people regain strength, reduce symptoms of anxiety or depression, increase awareness about their lung disease, and make it easier for them to manage their disease. Our goal is to help patients to control or reduce symptoms, improve functional status, and educate patients and families about lung diseases, and self-management strategies. The program is designed with the individual patient in mind to help them exercise, educate on disease management, learn breathing retraining, and psychosocial support to help patients cope with living with a chronic illness. Studies have shown that patients with COPD who participate in pulmonary rehabilitation have decreased shortness of breath, improved activity tolerance, improved quality of life, and reduced hospitalizations.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is a supervised program designed to improve health in patients with heart disease and heart conditions. The purpose of the program is to help them return to optimal physical health and overall well-being after a heart attack, angioplasty, or open-heart surgery. This program will help give the patient the confidence to start a safe exercise program. It consists of monitored exercise combined with educational counseling and support.  The objective is to reduce disability from cardiac events through education and to improve the quality of life of our patients in the community.
