Marlette Regional Hospital’s skilled nursing facility is a highly-rated, hospital-attached, licensed 39-bed unit that provides short- and long-term care services.
Our Skilled Nursing Facility/Long-Term Care Unit provides both long-term care and short-term care for rehab, IV therapy, and wound care. We take pride in the care and services that we provide for our residents. Each resident has a plan of care specifically developed for them to meet their needs and preferences. We also offer the following:
Physical, occupational, and speech therapy is provided as needed or directed by a physician.
Our social worker will assist with the admission process, advocate for residents’ rights, and serve as a liaison between the families and the facility.
Social Services provides emotional and social support to our residents throughout their stay. We also assist with discharge planning by connecting our residents with community resources for smooth and successful transitions.
Daily activities are planned by our activities coordinator and tailored to our residents’ interests. We offer both large and small group activities and provide one-on-one visits when indicated. Some of the most enjoyed activities include:
A Registered Dietitian oversees the programming of specialized meals to meet the needs and personal preferences of our residents.

Dr. Bitner was born in Detroit but grew up in Southfield Michigan. He went to college in North Carolina at Greensboro and received a bachelor’s in economics. He was a stockbroker for a couple years with Charles Schwab before returning to college to study human biology. He has a master’s degree from U of M in physiology and a MD from the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State. Dr. Bitner completed his Internal Medicine Residency in Grand Rapids at Butterworth Hospital, now Corewell. He has worked for McLaren Hospital in Grand Blanc and Burton and was also a hospice director at Brian’s House in Davidson before coming to Hills and Dales where he has been for the past 15 years. He is a Primary Care Physician, the medical review officer for the hospital, and sees residents at The Heartlands. Dr. Bitner has 3 daughters, 3 cats, and 4 dogs. In his spare time, he likes to play golf, run (a little), watch football, hike, and spend time with his daughters.
Keith’s passion is providing care to geriatric patients. Keith received his Nurse Practitioner licensure from Maryville College, St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his internship at Deckerville Community Hospital. Keith previously worked in Emergency Medicine as a Paramedic full time for over 15 years and as an RN for 6 years in Mt. Clemens at McLaren Macomb working on the Medical Surgical/ Infectious Diseases unit. He is retiring from the Michigan Guard this year, after serving more than 28 years. Keith is married and has 3 children (3 bonus kids who are in laws) and 2 grandchildren. He loves being outdoors, working in a garden or hiking.
