Older drivers in the Cass City area are invited to attend a free CarFit event, hosted by Aspire Rural Health System, to ensure their vehicle is properly adjusted for maximum safety and comfort.
The event will take place at the Beechwood Community Center, 6086 Beechwood Dr., Cass City on Thursday, June 5th, 2025, from 1:00pm-3:00pm. CarFit is a nationally recognized educational program developed by AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association. It offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicle “fits” them—addressing issues such as proper seat positioning, mirror alignment, and steering wheel distance to reduce injury risk in the event of a crash.
Although older adults are among the safest drivers on the road—less likely to speed or drive under the influence—they are more vulnerable to injury in a collision due to physical fragility. CarFit assessments help mitigate these risks with personalized adjustments and tips provided by trained technicians and health professionals.
Each CarFit check takes about 20 minutes and includes:
- A 12-point check of the driver’s fit in their vehicle
- One-on-one consultation with trained CarFit technicians
- Safety tips and resources for mobility and independence
Space is limited and RSVP is required.
