John Bitner, MD

Dr. Bitner was born in Detroit but grew up in Southfield Michigan. He went to college in North Carolina at Greensboro and received a bachelor’s in economics. He was a stockbroker for a couple years with Charles Schwab before returning to college to study human biology. He has a master’s degree from U of M in physiology and a MD from the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State. Dr. Bitner completed his Internal Medicine Residency in Grand Rapids at Butterworth Hospital, now Corewell. He has worked for McLaren Hospital in Grand Blanc and Burton and was also a hospice director at Brian’s House in Davidson before coming to Hills and Dales where he has been for the past 15 years. He is a Primary Care Physician, the medical review officer for Hills & Dales Healthcare, and sees residents at The Heartlands and Marlette Regional Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Facility. Dr. Bitner has 3 daughters, 3 cats, and 4 dogs. In his spare time, he likes to play golf, run (a little), watch football, hike, and spend time with his daughters.
