Sanilac County Community Mental Health Donates to Aspire’s BCUPS Program

April 17, 2025

Will Morris, CEO of Sanilac County Community Mental Health (CMH), proudly presented a check for $1,045 to Stephanie Langenburg, Foundation Director at Aspire Rural Health System, in support of the organization’s BCUPS Program (Breast Cancer Understanding, Prevention & Screening).

The funds were raised through CMH’s ongoing “Casual for a Cause” initiative, which allows employees to dress casually every other Friday in exchange for a $3 donation. These donations are pooled and directed to causes that directly benefit Sanilac County residents.

The BCUPS Program provides financial assistance for annual screening mammograms, diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds, and ultrasound-guided breast biopsies—all vital tools in the early detection and treatment of breast cancer. It also offers grant funding for Thumb Area residents battling breast cancer, with the opportunity to reapply every six months as funding allows.

The program primarily serves uninsured or underinsured individuals, including those with high deductibles, limited insurance coverage, or who do not meet standard age criteria for covered screenings. Services are performed locally at Marlette Regional Hospital, Deckerville Community Hospital, and Hills & Dales Healthcare diagnostic imaging locations.

“This generous donation from the staff at Sanilac CMH helps ensure that cost is not a barrier for women in our community to receive life-saving breast cancer screenings and follow-up care,” said Stephanie Langenburg. “We are incredibly grateful for their support.”
