Aspire Introduces New CT Cardiac Service at Deckerville Community Hospital

April 3, 2025

Aspire Rural Health System is proud to announce the launch of a new cardiac imaging service at its Deckerville location. As part of continued commitment to enhancing community health, Aspire is now offering CT (Computed Tomography) Cardiac Calcium Scoring on the newly installed CT scanner.

The CT Cardiac Calcium Scoring is a non-invasive, low-radiation scan that measures the amount of calcium in the arteries of the heart, providing insight into a patient’s risk of developing heart disease. It is especially helpful for patients who may have risk factors or inconclusive results from other diagnostic tests.

Heart disease affects one in three adults, making early detection crucial. An elevated calcium score is a strong indicator of coronary artery disease. This scan is recommended for asymptomatic adults aged 40 or older who have at least one risk factor, such as a family history of coronary artery disease, a history of smoking, high cholesterol or high blood pressure, overweight or diabetes.

Patients are encouraged to speak with their physician to see if a CT Cardiac Calcium Score scan is right for them. The CT Cardiac Calcium Score scans are available at the Aspire Deckerville Community Hospital (3559 Pine St.) for $100 out-of-pocket. This is a cash-pay service, and insurance coverage is not applicable.

Stay tuned for the upcoming launch of Aspire’s Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA) service, expanding cardiac diagnostic capabilities even further.
