Aspire Rural Health System is converting its electronic health record (EHR) system to Epic, the number one EHR software company in the country. This transition will allow Aspire to communicate more efficiently with other healthcare facilities that use Epic, enhancing the coordination and quality of patient care.
An electronic health record is a digital version of a patient’s medical history, including basic identifying information, past medical history, immunizations, lab results, radiology reports, progress notes, and more. EHRs enable healthcare providers to share medical information securely and efficiently, ensuring better patient care and improved health outcomes.
What are the benefits of Epic?
- Seamless Access to Your Health Information: All your medical records are accessible across Epic facilities through Epic’s Care Everywhere network. If you receive care at another facility that uses Epic, your healthcare providers can instantly access your complete medical history—eliminating the need to repeat information such as lab results, medications, X-rays, allergies, and more.
- Enhanced Patient Care & Safety: Your healthcare team will have secure access to centrally stored health data, reducing the risk of errors, minimizing duplicate tests and services, and improving overall continuity of care.
- Easy Online Access to Your Health Information: Through the MyChart patient portal, you can conveniently view test results, follow-up instructions, upcoming appointments, and other health information anytime, anywhere.
Aspire’s Chief Advanced Practice Officer, Jennifer Jones, FNP-C, shared her enthusiasm for the transition, “Moving all Aspire locations to Epic is a significant step forward for our patients and our organization. By seamlessly connecting between Aspire campuses and other Epic facilities, we can deliver better, more coordinated care—no matter where the patient is seen, including the University of Michigan and Henry Ford. Our staff have been diligently training for this transition, and we are excited to bring these benefits to our community.”
We appreciate your patience as our team adjusts to the new system. You may experience minor delays in registration immediately following the transition, but these should be temporary. Once staff become fully accustomed to the workflow, the process will be more efficient, typically taking just a few minutes.
