Aspire Rural Health System is excited to share the opening of our Deckerville Pulmonology Clinic. Kristie Smith, FNP-C, alongside Shahzad Manawar, MD, Pulmonologist, will begin seeing patients in the Deckerville Pulmonology Clinic beginning Friday, July 26. The clinic is located within the hospital at 3559 Pine Street. Dr. Shahzad Manawar has been part of the Aspire Hills & Dales team for several years and is excited to help expand this service line for more patients in the community.
A patient may see a pulmonologist when diagnosed with lung diseases such as COPD, asthma, pulmonary hypertension, lung cancer, and cystic fibrosis. A pulmonologist’s goal is to help patients control or reduce symptoms, improve functional status, and educate patients and families about lung diseases, and self-management strategies. A patient will often be referred to a pulmonologist when additional support for disease is needed.
“As Aspire Rural Health System continues to grow, we are excited to be able to meet this need in the Deckerville Community for our patients. One of our goals is to keep our specialty care local and opening the Deckerville Pulmonology Clinic is one of our first steps to do this,” said Andrew Daniels, Co-CEO of Aspire.
